Hey Bonafide Mom, it's Tyler E. Johnson the founder of the spot!!

I am super excited and beyond thankful for the perpetual evolution of my purpose project The Bonafide Moms Spot. I have been on the ride of my life since launching this blog July of 2017 and the glow up has been so real. The Bonafide Moms Spot has evolved beyond my wildest dreams and its wouldn't be possible without fabulous moms like you.

The Bonafide Moms Spot is the epitome of the saying "glow through what you go through". It all started because of two words that I decided I would not allow to break me... POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION.  I fought, pushed, and prayed until I couldn't anymore and when I got exhausted God took the wheel;  look at me now! My glow shines brighter than ever before  and I am living my purposeful life. Im Loving like I've never loved before and my family and I have been blessed beyond measure. Its funny how life changes when faith is involved.

So, heres how it all started... A month after having my second child in May of 2017 I was officially diagnosed with Postpartum Depression. The diagnosis came as no surprise but for some reason I instantly felt it begin its attempts to take over my being. It did not take long for me to accept that no matter how many times I said to myself "you'r fine, its just a day" it wouldn't change the fact that deep down it was bigger than just a day and my self pep talks were not going to suffice.

About a week after being diagnosed I sat, thought, and prayed. If asked what was on my mind I would respond nothing or something of the sort to brush it off but really inside I was screaming " I feel insane, broken, misunderstood, lonely, and very close to hopeless." I was trapped in my mind  and nothing was the way I pictured and hoped it to be. I reached a point of being so exhausted mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically that I no longer had the energy to fight the diagnosis. Instead I submitted to the most high and accepted the journey.

After seeking the necessary medical advice I was assigned to a psychiatrist. She helped me figure out a starting point for sorting out the madness. One thing Ill never forget her telling me was her job was to listen to her patients and prescribe medications (tools) she felt we could benefit from. Following her statement sure enough she perscribed sleeping and anti-depressant medications. I didn't take them because I kind of felt like her statement was a warning. I didn't want to grow dependent on medications to find peace and happiness so I listened to the warning.  Instead I wrote and got real personal with myself. Writing surpsingly became a theraputic outlet along with praying.

The term blog came up all the time during my journey of sorting out the madness. I felt like God was telling me what I needed to do but it was ultimately up to me to get even more uncomfortable and actually be a doer. I already knew writing was good for me and I figured I couldn't possibly get anymore uncomfortable than I already was. I took the leap of faith and please hear me when I say I couldn’t have ever dreamed it to be as beautiful as this!
